Thromboembolic events after joint arthroplasty are a serious complication. Although postoperative anticoagulation may reduce the risk of these events, the risk is not eliminated. Patients with a personal or familial history of thromboembolic diseases (TED) are considered to be at higher risk for thromboembolic events after arthroplasty surgery. The goal of this study is to evaluate the role of preoperative hematologic evaluation in patients scheduled for elective joint arthroplasty with a history of TED.
