Reconstructing the femur in complex cases with massive bone loss presents a significant challenge for the orthopaedic surgeon. Nonmodular devices may be inadequate to address metaphyseal-diaphyseal mismatch and severe deformity while modular devices are prone to breakage when bony support is lacking. The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of a modular tumor-type prosthesis for reconstructing the severely damaged femur.
