Implant Wastage Cost During Joint Arthroplasty

In the face of declining reimbursement and rising demand for arthroplasty, cost containment is essential for the success of our health care system. Implant cost represents a significant portion of the overall economic burden prompting many authors to recommend cost containment strategies; however, no literature is available on the cost of implant wastage. Our purpose is to evaluate the amount and causes of implant waste.
