There have been a number of studies about the outcomes of total hip arthroplasty for secondary osteonecrosis of the femoral head, with a wide range of results. The primary purpose of this meta-analysis was to pool the reported results in an attempt to resolve the inconsistencies in the data, and to additionally try to analyze whether the outcomes of this procedure have improved over the past two decades, and whether revision rates differ based on the underlying etiology.
