Surgical Correction of Limb Alignment is not Associated with Increased Pain or Delayed Functional Recovery after Total Knee Replacement
Ormonde M. Mahoney, MD Tracy L. Kinsey, MSPHKnee
Recently, it has been suggested that correcting lower limb alignment to mechanical neutral is not only unnecessary for durable knee reconstruction, but may additionally be deleterious in terms of recovery (Klatt, J Arthr, 2008). We asked whether increasing magnitude of deformity correction achieved during total knee replacement was associated with increased pain or reduced functional recovery.
