Solid Organ Transplant and Total Knee Arthroplasty

The number of solid organ transplants in the United States is steadily rising. Renal transplant is the predominant solid organ transplant. Many studies have described complications with total hip arthroplasty after solid organ transplant, but little evidence exists concerning the safety of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in transplant patients. Our aim was to review the complication rates at our institution in TKA patients who had previous solid organ transplant.
