Epidemiology of Adverse Events after Total Hip Arthroplasty in Medicare Beneficiaries from 2002-2007

Increasing public awareness of medical errors and the need to control health care costs has led to a renewed interest in improving patient safety and quality of care. The aim of our study was to identify (1) risk factors for adverse events (AEs) while hospitalized after total hip arthroplasty (THA) and (2) trends in the rates of AEs.
