Early Failure of Cementless Porous Tantalum Monoblock Tibial Components is Likely Related to Patient Height, Weight, and Gender
Michael R. Meneghini; Brian C. de BeaubienKnee
Recently, there is a renewed interest in cementless total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with improved biomaterials such as highly porous tantalum. However, proper patient selection for this technology remains elusive and challenging. We report a high early failure rate and a characteristic failure mode of a porous tantalum monoblock tibial component in a series of cementless TKA.
