Coxa purchases the TEKOSET registration system for orthopaedic joint replacement surgery

08.05.2017 — News

Coxa Hospital for Joint Replacement has acquired ownership of the TEKOSET registration system for orthopaedic joint replacement surgery. The acquisition will strengthen and develop the monitoring of the implants installed at Coxa, as well as the related research, job planning and management. The plans are to develop a monitoring solution that can be offered to other joint replacement surgery providers.

TEKOSET supports extensive centralised periodic monitoring of artificial joints throughout their service life. It is the only registration system purely designed for monitoring artificial joints, and also of automatically generating the X-ray referrals patients will need for their periodic check-ups. TEKOSET is also integrated with the implant register of the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and can generate the statutory implantation notice.

The response rate to the periodic surveys we send out through this system is 90%, which is a very good result in our field. We will continue the development of the product to make it more user-friendly for patients and monitoring organisations. Our objective is to develop the TEKOSET system into a product that can be used by other care providers in the field. For example, this could be centralised periodic monitoring as a cloud service, which we believe will be in demand in conjunction with the coming health and social services reform,” says Tarmo Matikainen, Managing Director at Coxa Hospital for Joint Replacement.
