The Hospital for Joint Replacement Coxa produces the following services in the field of endoprosthetic surgery:
- endoprosthesis operations for hip and knee joints
- endoprosthesis operations for shoulder, elbow, ankle and wrist joints (e.g. for people suffering of rheumatoid arthritis)
- revision operations
- about 70 % of the operations produced by the hospital are first operations, about 20 % are revisions and about 10 % are other special endoprosthesis operations (valgus knee, hip dysplasia etc)
- the Hospital for Joint Replacement offers nation-wide, the most demanding endoprosthesis surgery
Endoprosthesis operations are also carried out on patients paying the charges themselves
The activities of the Hospital for Joint Replacement include a short post-operative treatment period (from 1 to 3 days) in Coxa. Rehabilitation takes place at other hospitals of the area - or at any other sender hospital - which thus will take part in the activities of the Hospital for Joint Replacement. As to patients' post-operative follow-up, it is mainly carried out at the initiative of the patients themselves through a decentralized IT-based follow-up system.
The Endoprosthesis Hospital operates as an educational hospital in its own field:
- for the personnel of nursing and rehabilitative treatment
- for specializing orthopedic surgeons
- for orthopedic specialists aiming for specific skills in endoprosthesis surgery
