Coxa, Hospital for Joint Replacement, is a hospital specialized in endoprosthetic surgery. It provides the Pirkanmaa Hospital District with endoprosthetic surgery and it is responsible for the supervision of the quality of operations. Moreover, it offers nation-wide services in the area of demanding endoprothestic reoperations.

Patients come for treatment with an admission note prepared by a health centre, local or central hospitals, or a private physician. If the patient's home place is outside the Pirkanmaa Hospital District , the patient also needs a payments agreement given by the commune.

Endoprosthetic surgery is also carried out on patients paying themselves the charges.

The hospital started its activities in September 2002. Coxa produces annually about 2600 surgical arthroplastic operations.

The Hospital for Joint Replacement operates as a limited company owned by the Pirkanmaa Hospital District , the City of Tampere, Terveysrahasto Oy, the Hospital Districts of Vaasa, South-Ostrobothnia, Kanta-Häme and Päijät-Häme and the Cities of Valkeakoski, Vammala and Mänttä. The Company was established in February 7, 2001.
